It has been nearly 6 months since I started my vegan diet. Overall the experience has been rewarding and I’m feeling great!

I think, with the vegan challenge, the price better be in the results. Although I have made a significant transformation in the way I look at food production, I must say that sustainable sources of animal products would be pretty hard for me to do without, forever. Fish, eggs and some dairy products, make life a little more fun and produce a diet that is far less restricting. The challenge is that a diet containing animal products might be far less health enhancing than a pure vegan diet.

In 2 weeks from now I’ll be back to the lab to see how this diet has improved my functional health. I’m looking forward to it.

Just when I am about to finish one health enhancement project, I’m already excited about my next diet challenge. I think I will be able to survive a lot easier on this new diet, as the ketogenic diet is much more paleo-esk.

I have been encouraging a lenient version of the ketogenic diet, in my practice, for the last 7 years now. It is a very healthy and a far less restricting alternative to the vegan diet. The ketogenic diet will have similar features to the paleolithic diet, which I advocate for weight-loss. The ketogenic diet just restricts food all together and should only allow for some protein, in almost any form. It also allows for some dairy! Thank goodness.

I truly believe the ketogenic diet can be a cure, or at the very least prevent, some of the most challenging health conditions, be it cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, and Seizure Disorders.

This diet converts our metabolism to use ketone bodies to produce energy. Ketone bodies produce less oxidative stress when they are burned as energy, which, along with calorie restriction, can reduce aging, by decreasing free radical production. Ketones are also not able to feed cancer cell growth as readily and may be used by the brain, as an alternative to sugar!

I would encourage anyone, that knows anyone with cancer to review the following presentation on the ketogenic diet! Its incredible and makes complete biochemical sense.
