Everyday I wake up thankful to be living on the Sunshine Coast! It is an incredible place filled with outdoor adventure that has allowed me to develop my passion for permaculture and self-sustainability.
Growing up on Saltspring Island, the transition to the Coast seemed completely natural to me and over the last few years I have worked endlessly on developing a property to reflect my dream, while maintaining my busy functional and naturopathic medical practice in North Vancouver.
Over the last year, in particular, among many projects, I have been able to complete my Roberts Creek Naturopathic and Functional Medicine Centre. Located in rural Roberts Creek, this clinic will be completely focused on the treatment of patients with complex and chronic disease, as well as healthy people that have a passion for staying healthy.
Functional medicine is a philosophy of medicine that better addresses the healthcare of individuals suffering from complex and chronic disease, such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, mental illness, and autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis. By shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach, functional medicine addresses the whole person, and not just an isolated set of symptoms.
Located on 5 acres, the clinic is surrounded by pounds and swales designed to reduce the impact of drought, along with solar collection to reduce reliance on conventional electricity, raised gardens to control soil and pests, as well as a green house that supports the development and maturity of plant life all year round.
After all this time, I am please to announce the official opening of the first functional medicine centre on the Sunshine Coast! I will be working from the clinic on Thursdays and Fridays, while maintaining my practice in Gibsons on Saturdays and North Vancouver on Mondays and Tuesdays.
